Los Angeles: A suspected male robber was dead after being shot by undercover police in North Hollywood late Thursday afternoon, authorities said. Undercover Los Angeles Police Department officers were investigating a series of robberies in the area when they spotted the suspect at around 4:25 p.m. on the 12000 block of Vose Street, according to Lt. Chris Ramirez.
Chula Vista: police were searching Thursday for a hit-and-run driver whose vehicle struck and killed a 50-year-old man. The collision happened shortly before 5 p.m. in the 600 block of H Street, according to Chula Vista police. The unidentified man was on the street, but not in a crosswalk, when he was hit by a vehicle traveling westbound on H Street, police said. The man died at the scene.
LOs Angeles: A baby drowned Wednesday after managing to get into a maintenance worker’s bucket while his mother was at a fitness class in Sun Valley, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The incident occurred in the 12000 block of Saticoy Street earlier in the day, according to LAPD Officer Tony Im, who did not provide an exact time.
Modesto: A 16-year-old girl was arrested Wednesday night after two women were killed in a crash, Modesto police said. Sherri Cooley, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene; 21-year-old Megan Cooley was taken to the hospital, where she later died, police said.

A 29-year-old man was behind bars Wednesday for allegedly driving while intoxicated and causing a fatal collision on a South Bay road. Toribio Martinez Sanchez was headed west on Coronado Avenue in Egger Highlands in a Dodge Durango SUV shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday when he made a left-hand turn at Thermal Avenue, crossing directly in the path of an oncoming motorcyclist, according to the San Diego Police Department.
A Chino Hills man was arrested Tuesday after authorities discovered a marijuana grow with 675 plants that he was allegedly operating and stealing electricity for, local police said. Two illegal marijuana grows were found in Chino Hills, one on Gazania Drive and another on Highview Street that police said was being run by 33-year-old Liu Hong. The two locations don’t appear related, police said, so Hong was only involved with the Highview operation. No other details were released about the other location.
