A woman was killed Thursday evening while crossing a Sacramento County road, the California Highway Patrol said. The woman was hit by a car while in the intersection and died at the scene, CHP said. The crash happened around 6:10 p.m. at El Camino Avenue and Bell Street. CHP said the woman was crossing against the signal. A Honda Civic, which had a green light, drove through the intersection and hit the woman.
Police in San Jose have detained a man after reports that he ran with a chain saw at other people Thursday, a police spokeswoman said.
Deputies say the men were eating at a taco truck just off the highway and Plainsburg road. One man died at the scene, the other died at the hospital, and a third is expected to survive, according to officials.
