On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, just before 12:30 a.m., Sacramento Police Department officers responded to reports of an assault with a weapon in the 3500 block of 5th Avenue. Due to the circumstances, Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to take over the investigation. They processed the scene, collected evidence, and interviewed witnesses. The suspect, 21-year-old Maximus Morgan of Sacramento, was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on homicide related charges.
